Car Care Check List

Car issues are really frustrating and they tend to happen when we less expect them and usually when we are far from our trusted mechanic. There’s a way to avoid this kind of surprise by simply getting regular maintenances that in adittion will serve you to save money and keep your car safe. So..

Monthly

Tires: Check the pressure and look for tread wear, spots or bulges. Make the reparations needed.

Belts: Check for fraying and breakage.

Antifreeze or coolant: check the level, it should be between “low” and “full” marks.

Air filter: Keep it clean. It’s usually recommended to be replaced every 12,000 to 15,000 miles.

Every 3 Months

Oil engine: It cools down and lubricate the engine. A low level can cause serious damages to the engine, so keep it between “low” and “full” marks, and check its color. If it is too dark, it´s time to change it. Usually recommended to be changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles.

Batteries: check and clean the terminals and cables if they are corroded

Brake, steering and transmission fluids: check its levels and keep it proper

Windshield washer fluid: keep this filled up to ensure good vissibility

Every 6 Months

  • Brakes and brake lights
  • Exhaust
  • Headlights and turn signals
  • Horn
  • Shock absorber
  • Spare tire

Every 5 Years

General check of:

  • Battery
  • Electric System
  • Air conditioning
  • Radiators

And don´t forget these final recomendations:

  • Wash and was your car weekly, to protect it form corrosión.
  • In case of any trouble, deal with it inmediately by a car check out, to prevent it turns in serious damage.
  • Use only original parts
